Long Island Video Fishing Forecast – May 1, 2025

This week we embrace two season openers. Porgies will open on the first of the month with an 11-inch minimum size limit for boat anglers and 9.5 inches for shore-based anglers. There will be a 30-fish bag limit in effect. The long-awaited fluke season will opens this Sunday the fourth with a 3-fish bag limit and 19-inch minimum size until August first. Then the minimum size will increase to 19.5 inches on August 2nd through the end of the season on October 15th. As for the fishing, stripers are moving from west to east but it appears that the size of the stripers on the western end of the island have increased in size for both boat and land-based anglers. The first bluefish of the year have also shown themselves on the western end of the island as well just as well welcome in the new month
