With opening day of trout season set for this Saturday in both Connecticut and Rhode Island, freshwater anglers are primed for what really is a fishing holiday in these states. Connecticut took it to the next level by stocking some trophy trout throughout the state, and reports indicate a healthy dose of trout over 20 inches to go with the more typical ‘stockers’ during the last two weeks of catch-and-release season. Striped bass are showing some movement in the western Sound, while holdovers continue to gorge on herring. And we’ve seen another solid showing from largemouth bass this week as well.
